World Record Setting
For the last few weeks, Room 10 has had the privilege of receiving a kit from schoolkit.co.nz in order to complete their own world records. This tied in extremely well with our measurement unit and students were able to use their intuitive minds to figure out how they would make a world record of their own using the secret formula that school kit provided us with. We then managed to compete against each other to see who could get the world record.

Commonwealth Games
Commonwealth Games
For the remainder of the term, Room 10 will be looking at our new inquiry of Commonwealth Games. This is in conjunction with the Commonwealth Games which is being held on the Gold Coast. Students will begin to inquire about a country of their choice and be creating some big questions about athletes, sport and the world. I encourage you to discuss some of these subjects with your child at home, and where possible, watch the Commonwealth Games after April 4th when it will be live.

Welcome back to 2018!
Our term has started with a bang! With students in Room 10 starting their Reading, Writing and Maths straight away. Students have enjoyed learning about their classmates using surveys and tally charts and presenting their work in bar charts. We also enjoyed a class game of bingo whereby students had to find out new things about their peers. In Reading, we have been learning about summarising and how to pick out key words in sentences. It would be great if you could continue to do this at home with your students.
I look forward to more fun next week.
