Commonwealth Games

Commonwealth Games 

For the remainder of the term, Room 10 will be looking at our new inquiry of Commonwealth Games. This is in conjunction with the Commonwealth Games which is being held on the Gold Coast. Students will begin to inquire about a country of their choice and be creating some big questions about athletes, sport and the world. I encourage you to discuss some of these subjects with your child at home, and where possible, watch the Commonwealth Games after April 4th when it will be live.

Kapahaka

Students in Room 10 and 11 had their first Kapahaka lesson today. All students learnt a traditional song and eventually put actions to their beautiful singing. They also had the privilege of Whaea Jo playing guitar whilst they sang! A great afternoon in Kokari block.

Pasifika

Yesterday, Room 10 and 11 had their first taste of the new cultural classes that are happening in school. Students will have alternate weeks of Kapa Haka and Pasifika led by our amazing teacher aides Lina and Whaea Jo. We started the first Pasifika session learning a song which was led and sang beautifully by some of our Samoan students.
