Term 3 Home Learning Challenges have gone home today.
Last term, we had some amazing challenges completed. Congratulations to those students who received their reward from Miss Smith.

Kokari Home Learning Challenges Term 3 2016
These Home Learning Challenges are designed to help us with ‘learning to take us places’, being a learner and to assist in building Respect and Responsibility. Each student needs to complete at least eight challenges to receive their certificate, and a reward from Ms Smith for the term. The challenges will need to be completed by Monday 12th September so that the
Teachers can organise certificates. Evidence your learning in your scrapbook by way of photos, a diagram or some other appropriate way.
Being A Learner:
Read (a chapter or a book) for at least 50 nights and complete your reading log each night (Read in the weekends to help get you over the line!).
Being Respectful:
Research and record some facts about a culture other than your own. Include traditions, foods, languages, pictures and anything else that makes this culture unique.
Being A Learner:
Complete 15 minutes of Mathletics each day 4 x a week. Record your time on the Mathletics log.
Being A Learner:
Complete 15 minutes of Reading Eggs each day 4 x a week. Record your time on the Reading Eggs log.
Being A Learner:
Aotearoa/New Zealand is a new country.
Talk to members of your family to find out what part of the world your ancestors came from. Write about why they came here, how they travelled here and where they lived when they arrived.

Being A Learner:
Learn to play a board game that you haven’t tried before. Take photos of your game to provide evidence of your learning.
Teach another child to play the game.

Being A Learner:
Design a fitness plan for yourself and a friend that will help you to become healthier and more energetic. You can use your plan as part of your “Healthy Heroes” activities.
Being Responsible:
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Make your own HEALTHY breakfast for a week. Record your food choices/menu. Take photos or draw what you ate and why.
Being A Learner:
The Olympic Games start very soon. Find out how many countries are competing in these games. Where are the Olympic Games being held in 2016? Design an Olympics poster to advertise the games. Make sure it is bright and colourful.
Being a Learner:
Research a disaster that occurred in New Zealand. For example: Tangiwai, Wahine, Napier Earthquake, Invercargill Floods. Include when, how, why and other facts.
Being Responsible:
We know that we need at least 8 hours sleep every night. Make a ‘sleep’ roster for every Night for 2 weeks. Make sure you go to bed at your bedtime. _______________________ Parent Signature:
Being A Learner:
Record and write about a New Zealand success at the Olympic Games. Include, who was involved, the sport, what they achieved and the most exciting moment.
Being Responsible:
Keep a diary of your tasks and responsibilities at home. For example: looking after your pet, doing dishes, making bed, putting rubbish and recycling out etc.
Being Respectful:
Design and make an invention that will help other people. Label each part. Include who it will help and how it will help.
